A Message From Pam Lawhorne...

Years ago, when my life was in shambles, I often found myself wondering why my life had turned out the way it did. At the time I didn't have anyone positive in my life; no one who believed in me; no one who saw my “potential" and no one who wanted only what was best for me. The only people I knew were like me, negative, with no direction and heading no where.

I knew that I wanted more out of life and after careful review I realized that it was I who had caused most of my own problems. I had fell victim to my own circumstances. Of course, like everyone else, there were events that had occurred in my life that I could not control but in most instances, there were a lot of things that happened that I could control.

One day, while driving to my J-O-B, I was listening to the radio and heard someone make a statement that was so profound that to this day I still think it rings true. The statement was “winners make the rules and others must follow them”.

So you're thinking - what’s so profound about that statement?
Think for a moment and ask yourself…

• Who determines what time you wake up each day – you or your job?
• Who determines the hours that you work each day - you or your job?
• Who determines when or where you take vacation – you or your job?
• Who determines how much money you make – you or your job?
• Who determines the type of house you live in - you or your job?
• Who determines the type of car you drive - you or your job?
• Who determines when it's time for you to retire - you or your job?

No one wants to be a follower, right? Do you think for one moment that your job will encourage you to do better? To start your own business? To strive to provide a better life for you and your family? Do you think they want you to wise up and leave them? I don’t think so! Chances are your job will only pay you enough to keep you there and typically you will only work hard enough so that they won't fire you. Maybe it’s time to wake up and realize your true potential!

Every winner, from Tiger Woods to Michael Jordan to my own mentor Kevin Bracy... has an expert, a visionary at there disposal... who not only sees greatness in them, but who knows how to bring it out. That’s the role a coach or consultant plays. They see all of the “good stuff” that’s in you and they bring it out.

What most people don't know is that expert coaching or consulting is not just limited to sports figures, motivational speakers or entertainers. Some of the greatest and most powerful business icons also have consultants and mentors to guide their careers, myself included!

The great motivator, Mr. Les Brown, said to me once “You can't see the picture when you're in the frame." Sometimes, it hard to see your own “true potential” when you are going about your day to day activities.
