Why We Do What We Do...
Super Star Success Story

The "Why Not Me?" Educational Program

When young teen-age girls get pregnant in some instances they have to quit school. When they do they lose hope and give up on life. They ask themselves "why me" so we came up with an answer "why not me."

“Fortunately for me, I was able to turn my life around and have found success as an entrepreneur. But I also know that’s not the case for so many others. So what happens to them? Do we just forget and pretend they don’t exist? Or do we give them the knowledge, the tools they need to turn their life around.” Pam Lawhorne

The Lawhorne Foundation will provide financial assistance to teenage and/or single mothers who need help with expenses to help them complete or return to school.

This program would support their efforts to complete their basic education (middle and/or high school) and obtain a certificate or degree from a vocational school, college or university. The purpose of this fund would be to provide financial assistance by picking up where grants, scholarships and student loans fall short.

Through this program we’ll provide them with the encouragement they need, while placing emphasis on the significance of them continuing their education. For definitional purposes, this program will be made available to young ladies between the ages of 12 and 25 years of age who have physical custody of at least one child.

They will also have access to all of our workshops and seminars, plus career and personal counseling for a small fee or at no cost. We will also pair them up with a “success” mentor who has been where they are and can show them how far they can go.

A portion of the proceeds from all of our workshops, seminars and merchandise sales will be used to support The Lawhorne Foundation, Inc.

The Lawhorne Foundation is a non-profit corporation registered in North Carolina. In 2008 the foundation will apply for 501c3 status.
